Natural medicine for swollen lymph nodes in the neck area
The lymphatic system has various functions in the body. The three most important are
- Drainage function - i.e. removal of fluid, proteins, cell debris and particles from the interstitial tissue
- Immune function - the lymph cells themselves are defence cells, the lymph channels are transport routes and the lymph organs are activity centres of the immune system. Lymph nodes are the filter stations for pathogens and harmful substances, tonsils and lymph nodes are coordination centres of the immune system and production sites for defence cells.
- Transport function - Various substances cannot be transported via the blood system and must therefore utilise the lymph. This is due in particular to their size and concerns, among other things, fats from food.
If lymph nodes are “on the alert”, they can increase up to 2 cm in size and are therefore well-palpable in the neck area. Swollen lymph nodes in the neck area may also remain swollen for some time after a cold or after other infections have been overcome.
If the lymph nodes in the neck area are swollen, doctors call this cervical lymphadenopathy. Often, both sides of the neck are swollen, but the lymph nodes may also swell only on one side of the neck. Lymph nodes that swell in the context of a cold, tonsillitis, or similar infections usually feel soft, movable, and are painful upon touch or pressure.
Infections can, among other things, manifest in the form of swollen lymph nodes in the neck area. Lymphdiaral® Basistropfen SL are an established remedy for swollen lymph nodes. The lymph drops serve to support the local lymphatic system in the nose-throat area, which also includes the lymph nodes.
Strong defences via a strong lymphatic system
The lymphatic system plays a key role in the body’s successful defence against infections. The lymphatic system is very well developed, especially in the ear-nose-throat (ENT) area, the entry point for most pathogens. Tonsils, lymph nodes, and mucous membranes with their very defensive lymph cells, are concentrated here. Inflammation and swelling of these parts of the lymphatic system is a sign that the immune system is working at high speeds in these areas.
Susceptibility to infection? A strong immune system needs a strong lymphatic system
In the case of recurring infections, support of the lymphatic system may be useful, because: lymphatic and immune systems form a unit.
A well-functioning lymphatic system supports the immune system, because:
- Lymph nodes are filter stations for pathogens and pollutants.
- Tonsils and lymph nodes are production sites for defence cells.
- Lymphatic vessels are important routes of transport of the immune system.
It is only with an intact lymphatic system that the necessary defence cells can quickly reach where they are urgently needed.

Unless otherwise prescribed:
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older
Acute: take 5 drops every half hour to one hour, no more than 6 times per day.
Chronic: take 5 drops 1 to 3 times a day.
Children between 6 and 12 years of age.
No more than two-thirds of the adult dose.
Small children between the first and sixth year of life
No more than half.
